About

The European Organization for Nuclear Research, known as CERN, is a European research organisation that operates the largest particle physics laboratory in the world. Established in 1954, the organisation is based in a northwest suburb of Geneva on the Franco–Swiss border and has 23 member states. The highly praised legal team of CERN is responsible for providing legal and strategic advice in a number of areas such as procurement, commercial and contract law. The team also handles litigation strategies and compliance matters for the business and ensures the proper application and interpretation of CERN’s conventions and other constitutive documents. With support from the legal department, CERN recently announced that it is launching the Science Gateway, a new scientific education and outreach centre targeting the general public of all ages.
