Verisure is the leading provider of professionally monitored security solutions in Europe founded in 1988 with operations in 15 countries in Europe and Latin America where they serve over three million customers. With just over 40 lawyers plus several support staff, the legal team has a vision to be seen as business enablers in order to deliver a smooth and predictable road ahead to enable fast and long-term business growth. ‘The vision is reflected in how we are structured, our ways of working and the priorities we set for ourselves. It also influences our advice and decision making every day’, says group chief legal and compliance officer Nina Cronstedt. This approach helps the legal team achieve positive business impact and translate external developments into opportunities. As a result of this, the legal team is part of group and country management teams and has a strong voice within the company, being true partners to the business function. In addition to this, the legal team is proud to be highly culturally diverse, representing approximately 15 nationalities from three continents (Europe, South America and Africa) and reflects a strong gender balance with the legal management team consisting of five women and six men, with a close to 50/50 gender balance in the rest of the function. Although Verisure is a 30-year old company, it remains in high-growth mode, entering new markets, most recently Germany and Argentina in 2018 and 2019 respectively, and experiencing double-digit annual sales, profit and organisational growth. This has required the team to remain an agile, effective and solid legal function able to support the expansion in every aspect and ready to grow with it. Amongst the many transactions the legal team has worked on, in October 2017, the group acquired the entire capital stock of TeleAlarme in Brazil and in March 2018, the group completed its acquisition of MediaFrance.
