While it is pivotal to have all legal matters or issues precisely addressed in the related transaction, it is preferable to have multiple practical alternatives with a clear legal solution for the business team and management to consider for further proceeding.

How important is choosing to work with external lawyers who align with your company’s values? Are you likely to reconsider what firms you work with based on this?

A company’s core values dictate directions on how the company would conduct its businesses. Thus, it is critical to select and engage external lawyers who understand the company’s core values as they would be able to provide practical, reasonable, and suitable advice taking into account the company’s principles which would lead to a successful and smooth transaction.

As we enter the next decade, what skills will a corporate legal team need to succeed in the modern in-house industry?

I strongly believe that apart from practical legal skills which a corporate legal team needed to be equipped with, communication skills and up-to-date knowledge of their business sector would also take crucial roles for legal individuals and the team to successfully form suitable advice and efficiently convey such advice to a counterpart internally and externally.
