What are the most significant cases or transactions that you have recently been involved in? 

Nutte transformed the legal department of B. Braun (Thailand) from a reactive “gatekeeper” into a proactive “Legal business partner”. This strategic shift balances legal risks with business needs, maximising company interests.  

With Business Growth in mind, Nutte has supported the organisation in:  

Strategic Agreements: Supporting commercial teams in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating various agreements to achieve sales targets and expand distribution channels.  

Enhanced Expertise: Assisting Aesculap Academy (B. Braun’s educational arm that is dedicated to strengthening the skills of healthcare professionals) in signing MOUs/MOAs (Memorandum of Understandings / Memorandum of Agreements) with prestigious universities & medical schools for local and international scientific programs, fostering healthcare professional development across Thailand and Asia Pacific.  

Compliance Champion: Providing adept legal and compliance guidance for complex transactions, ensuring adherence to healthcare regulations and anti-bribery/ anti-corruption / anti-fraud measures (including Gift, Entertainment & Sponsorship guidelines, B. Braun group policies and including also the code of conduct of the Thai Medical Device Technology Industry Association – THAIMED). 

Could you share an example of a time when you came up with an innovation that improved how your legal team works and did not come at a large expense?   

As in-house counsel at B. Braun (Thailand), Nutte championed two key digital initiatives to streamline legal processes and empower business efficiency: 

Contract Lifecycle Management (“CLM”): Leveraging B. Braun Global’s web-based CLM software, Nutte led its local implementation by developing Thai-language contract templates and creating short video tutorials in Thai to guide B. Braun (Thailand) users on utilising the CLM’s “Automated Contract Generation” feature. This empowered users to generate basic agreements independently, significantly reducing the legal team’s workload for routine agreements. 

Thai Personal Data Protection Act (“PDPA”) Compliance: To ensure compliance with the PDPA regulations, Nutte and his team developed Electronic Consent Forms (E-consent) using readily available Microsoft/PDF forms. We also collaborated with IT to enable signing via iPads or personal mobile phones, creating a user-friendly and cost-effective solution.

How do you motivate and manage your legal team well? 

In my experience, the most effective motivator and management tool for legal teams is showing appreciation. It’s akin to giving trust – every interaction strengthens or weakens the team bond.  

A team that feels valued can withstand greater pressure. Therefore, as a legal leader, fostering appreciation within your team is a foundational skill. Building and maintaining strong relationships within the team thereby ensures members feel valued, which in turn, forms the foundation for a high-performing legal department.
