A veteran banking in-house lawyer with almost 20 years of experience in the field, Süreyya Uğurses has worked for some of the country’s biggest banks, including Isbank, HSBC and Eurobank. She joined Citibank in
2011 as the country legal counsel, company secretary and assistant general manager. A true leader, one of her top priorities when assuming this role was investing in her team’s development. As country legal counsel, Uğurses led the work to ensure the balance between local and global legal requirements, which has had a great impact on the strategic direction of the company. Faced with continuous regulatory changes, Uğurses believes that close cooperation between the legal team and the business is the key to success.
