Apple (Türkiye)
Following an ongoing tax dispute for the company in Ireland, Turkey’s Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Simsek extended an open invitation for Apple to relocate its international operation to Turkey. While such a move is unlikely, the Turkish legal team, led by senior legal counsel Gökçe Çiçek Lembet, would certainly be up to the challenge of taking on broader responsibilities. Earlier this year, the team helped launch the company’s new subscription streaming service, Apple Music, for users in Turkey. The company also released two new models of its flagship product, the iPhone, and a new smartwatch in September. The legal team played an important role in bringing the company’s products to market by working closely with international patent teams. The team also negotiated key deal with online platforms such as n11.com, allowing customers to pre-order Apple products in Turkey, and assisted the company in its efforts to prevent international hackers exploit its products. In particular, the team has helped to resolve issues in Turkey following a security flaw in one of its global products.
