Food, agriculture, financial and industrial products and services conglomerate Cargill has been growing in the Middle East, Turkey and North Africa (METNA) region in recent years. During this time, the three-member legal team in Turkey, led by head of legal Tuba Cetin, has responded by supporting successful M&A projects and scrutinising growth opportunities in key jurisdictions across the region. The legal team is also responsible for maintaining orientation programs applied for the increasing number of new employees and companies. The regulatory and legal changes of the food, feed and commodities market are notorious, and the legal team has worked closely with business functions to overcome potential problems by drafting procedures and conducting scenario-planning. The team is proud of its ability to work together as a unit alongside the global in-house team of Cargill. Cetin comments, ‘although we are a small team located in Turkey we have a huge team which consists of more than 200 lawyers, specialists and paralegals all over the world, who work together and transfer their know-how and knowledge to each other’.
