A team of four lawyers and two support staff support the Turkish operations of CEVA Logistics, a UK-headquartered supply chain solutions company that serve national and multinational clients. The team is led by Ruken Yilmaz, general legal counsel for the Balkans, Africa and the Middle East. CEVA’s increasingly international scope and new corporate governance structure have called on the Turkish legal team to step up its efforts to support the business. Domestically, changes in the Turkish Commercial Code have also led the team to revise the rules governing how it operates. In spite of these operational pressures, the team has also made a significant contribution towards the company’s strategy and is recognised for its thorough examination of major customer contracts and involvement in several high-value deals. Ruken says one of the team’s biggest contributions is its ability to assess risks correctly saying, ‘the department gives significant value to the risk reduction and prevention to issues brought by the company’.
