GlaxoSmithKline Turkey
In the past two years the legal team at pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) has undergone major structural changes, enhancing of its regional responsibilities. Leading the legal team’s operation as cluster legal director for Turkey, Near East (Lebanon and Jordan) and Direct Supply Markets (Yemen, Sudan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria and Libya), Yelda Dogan Yasarturk established a significant role providing legal support for implementation of global projects in Turkey, Middle East, North Africa and Commonwealth of Independent States regions. Recently drafting an extensive legal policy covering the new ways of working in the direct supply markets, the team completely redesigned the way of workings in those national markets. Leading from the front, Yasarturk played a major role in the implementation of the policy which consists of direct supply of GSK essential medicines to governments or through international organisations. Having a big impact on the business, the team provided support on a global project on competition law and corporate governance which resulted in the successful establishment of the GSK Consumer Healthcare entity, transferring important consumer healthcare products from an important competitor to this entity. The project helped the GSK business to extend its portfolio and also to strength its market share in new areas. When GSK pioneered a policy on health care professionals the legal team successfully handled the resultant queries and helped medical teams to establish the new way of working in the sector.
