The legal function at The Limak Group of Companies, a Turkish conglomerate with major interests in construction, energy, cement, and tourism, was only established in 2013 when senior legal counsel Selin Küçükkayıkçı joined the company, the operations of which date back to 1976. In spite of its recent formation, the team has been highly successful in securing and executing a number of high profile deals for the company and its subsidiaries. In 2015, its construction subsidiary won a $4.3bn tender to build a new terminal at Kuwait Airport. This year the team has secured a number of high-value contracts such as winning a €24m tender in Ukraine to construct a subway line in the city of Dnipro and securing an agreement to build a section of the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) from the Turkish city of Eskisehir to the border with Greece under its joint venture, Punj Lloyd-Limak. Following Limak’s announcement that it plans to focus its operations in the Balkans and Africa in the near future, the legal department looks set to further enhance its credentials in the coming years.
