Procter & Gamble
Procter & Gamble (P&G) is the Turkish arm of the American multinational consumer goods company, whose efficient legal team of five is led by Ozge Ayoz, legal and government relations director and associate general counsel for Turkey, Caucasia, the Arabian Peninsula and Pakistan. Defining themselves as ‘strategic counsel’ to the business under the vision of being recognised as ‘indispensable business partners’, the team is highly focused on supporting P&G’s business goals with end-to-end involvement in business planning, product launches, corporate restructuring projects, labour strategies and much more. ‘We understand the business first and then leverage our technical mastery to guide the business with creative legal solutions to help deliver the goals’, says Ayoz. The team is central to the transactional work of the company and has a leadership role on multiple fronts. For instance, corporate structuring, labour matters and trade activities are only resolved and executed with the legal department’s input. This is in part down to how the team has been co-ordinated: Ayoz is a board member of the company and member of executive board, and the rest of the team are members of functional leadership teams, working together with business leaders regularly. This structure has ensured that the legal department’s plans can directly align with the company’s objectives and goals. Due to its business integration, external focus and regular monitoring efforts, the team identified new regulations on comparative advertising at its early stage, influenced the draft law by leading the industry association efforts and then swiftly guided the company’s strategy for future advertising activities.
