Sofra Grup became part of the Compass Group, its former joint venture partner in Turkey, after Compass Group bought out the remaining shares in 2011. Led by general counsel Ozgur Ozan Doker, the legal team at Sofra Grup has recently increased in size in order to better support the catering group of companies. In line with company need, the team has grown its expertise particularly in labour law, contract management, compliance and delivering other general legal consultancy, supporting the operations of over 20,000 employees. Discussing the team’s operational developments to embed legal further within the business, Doker says: ‘Our legal team is delivering a perfect contract and updated database system, containing over 1,000 contracts, to the top management in order to help them to evaluate the business flow accurately. We will try to guide to the relevant decision makers to follow a more preventive approach on labour law files and enter into close cooperation with the human resources team’. The team has paid a huge amount of attention to the company’s staff in the field and provides different training on code of business conduct, contract management and labour law country wide. Doker and his colleagues Zeynep Kontas and Siva Atesok often work closely with the CEO and senior management, having demonstrated their skill and value to the business by improving its service quality consistently in a business-minded manner but within necessary legal discipline.
