TAV Airports Holding
TAV Airports Holding was established in 1997 as a joint venture of Tepe, Akfen and Airport Consulting Vienna and won a tender for the İstanbul Ataturk Airport International Terminal in the same year. General counsel Ceyda Akbal has led a legal team composed of four counsel and one intern since April 2012, deploying a centralised legal consultancy system that works within all of the TAV group companies. In the wake of the failed coup in Turkey, the legal team has been involved in assisting TAV Airports Holding in brokering deals with foreign international airports to offset the effect of security fears on tourism. Notable achievements in 2016 include a deal which has seen the Milas-Bodrum Airport (operated by TAV Airports) host Moscow Domodedovo flights by Russia-based Ural Airlines in August 2016, winning passenger lounge operating rights at Muscat International Airport, and securing an agreement to build a second terminal at Tbilisi International Airport. With the company in the middle of further negotiations for expansion in Saudi Arabia, Cuba, India and Malaysia, the regional legal team’s regulatory expertise will be called upon to help the company grow into new markets.
