First, can you please give us an idea of the sort of work your team has done recently?

In addition to daily contract reviews, HR, and finance issues, we have closed two deals. We have swapped two assets with our local shareholder and each entity will control new entities and develop the projects at their control. We also made a significant restructure among the group entities within Türkiye.

What do you think are the biggest risks facing your industry now and how are you preparing your company and team to face these risks?

The supply of products for running the business is the biggest challenge. Firstly, there is not much of a sufficient supply, the prices have increased incredibly, unexpectedly, and even when the companies are able to purchase, there is either no product or an indefinite delivery time. This impacts companies’ production and for that purpose, we hired a team to search for the required materials at reasonable prices from various sources around the world with a long-term contract execution. This year, I am expecting a shortage of the supply of certain products, and I have already experienced this with cars.

How do you feel the pandemic has changed the world of work for in-house counsel and the function of the general counsel?

We have adapted ourselves to a new working system, including both hybrid and remote working. At first, it seemed impossible to work from home, but now we see that remote working is plausible and doable for the legal team. There have also been positive outcomes such as spending more time with family and realising the importance of finding a good work-life balance.
