Legal director | Pearson
I started my in-house career in 2010 at Istanbul Trademark & Patent Consultancy providing IP consultancy to Turkish clients for their various trademark applications worldwide. In 2011, I joined Samsung Electronics Türkiye in the early stages of their legal department. There, I successfully managed our legal team and oversaw company legal compliance for six years. In 2017, I received an offer from Zimmer Biomet EMEA for a regional compliance role and shifted to the compliance and healthcare world, eventually becoming compliance manager for the Balkans, MENA, and Türkiye. In 2020, I received another call for change from US-Israel owned pharmaceutical giant TEVA for a position as the associate legal and compliance director of their Middle East office. Becoming a GC was always my top priority, so I was thrilled to join a startup legal team in its initiation phase in the wake of a pandemic that changed rule of corporate games forever. After an organisational change at TEVA, I transferred to Pearson Education as their legal director in the Middle East and Africa regions, a title that has always been my goal. In addition to my corporate work, I have also published various articles and conducted interviews with legal magazines about in-house legal topics in both Türkiye and the Middle East.
