What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?

Our regional legal head created a task force with contributions from various business units and legal to establish awareness in digital by sharing real cases in the countries. Through this collaborative effort, we aimed to harness the power of AI tools to raise awareness and boost productivity in utilising data effectively. By leveraging the expertise of different departments, we created targeted content to educate stakeholders on the importance of digital legal practices and the transformative potential of AI-driven solutions. This initiative not only fosters a culture of innovation but also empowers our teams to adapt to the evolving landscape of legal technology, ultimately enhancing our overall efficiency and effectiveness in legal operations. Accordingly, together with the team members we initiated a vlog series called ‘Unwrapping AI’ which aims to unwrap and unlock the topic of AI and uncover how it is likely to impact us and our daily work.

What strategic priorities are guiding you and your team in 2024?

Supporting business units by minimising legal risks through technological advancements for patient-centric and innovative treatments is paramount. This entails a proactive approach to identify emerging technologies such as telemedicine and artificial intelligence, while simultaneously ensuring compliance with evolving regulatory frameworks governing data privacy regulation. By integrating robust cybersecurity measures, addressing ethical consideration, and navigating intellectual property rights, healthcare stakeholders can foster innovation within a legal and ethical framework, ultimately improving patient outcomes while mitigating potential liabilities. Therefore, it is of great importance for the legal team to operate within the framework mentioned.

As a counsel, maintaining a passion for continuous self-improvement and innovation amidst evolving laws becomes intrinsic to the profession. The dynamic nature of legislation demands an ongoing commitment to staying updated with legal developments, interpreting their implications and adapting strategies accordingly.
