What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?

As legal, ethics, and compliance manager at clinical development centre — Novo Nordisk, I have been involved in several significant cases and transactions. One notable area of focus involves overseeing negotiations and finalising contracts with research organisations and principal investigators for clinical trials. This responsibility requires ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, ethical standards, and data protection laws. Additionally, my attention extends to addressing legal matters concerning adverse events, patient consent, and data privacy within the clinical trial framework. It is imperative to maintain legal and ethical compliance while safeguarding the rights of trial participants and upholding the integrity of the trial process. At Novo Nordisk clinical development centre, my mission is to establish Turkey as a successful center for clinical trial, upholding the highest ethical values within our legal and compliance framework.

In addition to our clinical trial endeavors, the in-house developed digital platforms for document management, contract review, and compliance tracking have effectively managed a growing number of cases and transactions. These digital tools significantly enhance my ability to monitor and respond to regulatory changes, ensuring the agility and adaptability of our legal processes in a rapidly evolving regulatory environment. Moreover, my digitalisation initiatives have yielded positive results in other countries under my responsibility, such as Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Morocco, Ukraine, and Lebanon, where I closely follow developments in the field of clinical trials.

What strategic priorities are guiding you and your team in 2024?

Looking ahead to 2024, my strategic priorities are significantly influenced by digitalisation, a transformative tool of the new age. I am focused on advancing our compliance initiatives to align with changing regulatory environments, leveraging digital tools for advanced analytics, and predictive compliance monitoring. My goal is to utilise digital platforms to provide greater transparency, agility, and efficiency in our legal and compliance processes. This strategic approach revolves around improving risk management and ensuring strong compliance with evolving global regulatory standards, including data privacy and anti-corruption laws. I firmly believe that this approach will make a significant difference in clinical trials.
