What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?

In 2023, we were faced and challenged by the increasing number of disputes related to geological conflicts and economical volatility. We managed to amicabley agree on solutions to deal with such difficulties instead of directly applying for a court discretion.

The court cases which were initiated for the same reasons have been successfully ended. We had the opportunity to test the relevant clauses of our agreements before court practice and now, we possess practical knowledge on how to approach and create a legal strategy for such disputes.

What strategic priorities are guiding you and your team in 2024?

We need to continue to be agile and adapt to challenges. New strategies need to be researched to proactively manage legal disputes, with the aim of prioritising welcome solutions. Innovative solutions must be devised to reduce costs, and may include considering alternative fee arrangements such as blended, capped or fixed fees, instead of hourly fees.

Hydrogen as an energy source and carbon capture storage and sequestration play a crucial role in the future of the world.

Obstacles regarding the production and transportation costs of hydrogen must be tackled. As good news, in accordance with its clean and energy efficient nature, solutions to consider hydrogen as commercially viable are on their way.

In order to comply with requirements under the Paris Agreement, carbon capture and sequestration investments will be the lead projects for fossil fuel dependent countries.
