What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?

Our team was involved in two M&A projects starting in 2020, with the first acquisition of Firmenich and continuing with the main M&A of DSM-Firmenich. The main idea for the first project of Firmenich was to expand the global organisation through strong commercial financials, partnering with the local leader in Türkiye known as Gülçiçek Kimya, which owns the brand MG International Fragrance Company. The second M&A, from Firmenich to DSM-Firmenich, was a merger of two leaders in their respective businesses. Firmenich in the fragrance business and DSM in the flavour business. With the closing of these two projects, an integration period has begun, followed by a significant convergence between the two leading companies.

The closing of the DSM-Firmenich M&A caused some competition disputes by local authorities, which were resolved by the global teams that consistently support from local to global levels.

What strategic priorities are guiding you and your team in 2024?

Our strategic priority for 2024 is to achieve successful integration into the new company, DSM-Firmenich, which means new departments and colleagues have joined our company. Additionally, understanding another business, such as the flavour business, is the second strategic priority aimed at deepening our insights. While navigating the convergence of these two different businesses, we also focus on staying aligned to continue our business orientation and sustain our good financial performance as in previous years.

Do you have a cause, business-related or otherwise, that you are passionate about?

Actually, I am passionate about the sustainability of our world by adhering to the carbon-neutral footprint commitments of the regions. As a result of my passion, the new organisation gave me the chance to manage the Sustainability Department locally. We are already involved and have created a project locally with my team focusing on biodiversity.
