What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?

One of the most significant cases that I have recently been involved in was the termination of certain partner contracts due to violations of their contractual obligations in the way of selling products to allegedly non-existent customers.

These were very complex and sensitive matters that required careful negotiation and documentation to avoid any legal disputes and reputational risks. I also had to deal with convincing the top management that the best solution was an amicable separation, explaining the local law risks and its impact on our business operations. The result was a settlement agreement which alleviated the legal risks to the company, but provided us with remedies in case of additional violations.

Could you share an example of a time when you came up with an innovation that improved how your legal team works and did not come at a large expense?

An example of an innovation that has improved how our legal team works is the implementation of a cloud-based contract management system that allowed us to store, access, and track all our contracts in a secure and efficient way. This system also enables us to automate some of the contract drafting and review processes on our contract performance and compliance. This innovation did not cost much, as we used an existing platform that was customised to our needs and integrated with our other systems.

What is a cause, business related or otherwise, that you care about, and why?

A cause that I care about, both personally and professionally, is the promotion of diversity and inclusion in the legal profession. I believe that having a diverse and inclusive legal team is not only the right thing to do, but also provides a strategic advantage that enhances our creativity, innovation, and problem-solving skills.I also think that as legal professionals, we have a responsibility to uphold the values of justice, equality, and respect for all people.

Another cause that I deeply care about is environmental conservation. Protecting biodiversity and ecosystems is crucial for current and future generations. As the effects of climate change become increasingly evident, its essential to advocate for sustainable practices in business, policy and daily life. Preserving natural habitats, reducing carbon emissions, and promoting renewable energy are just few ways to address this pressing issue.
