Can you foresee any key developments to the way general counsel work over the next five years?    

I think the use of artificial intelligence (AI) is changing in a positive way how we exercise the legal profession. Initial drafts can be obtained very quickly. Work done by AI will need to be reviewed by a human lawyer, but we can’t deny that in today’s world data and information are growing massively. AI tools take advantage of storing big volumes of data that contain useful information. Clients are always in need of speed in response so we must benefit from AI and get faster and higher quality work done. IA including predictive coding can be used to identify potential risks earlier and give more accurate risk assessment.  

What measures has your company taken to embed sustainability practices into its core business operations, and how does the role of the general counsel contribute to driving and ensuring sustainable practices within the company?   

The legal department is a key player in sustainability practices of a company. Legal involvement is needed to comply with legal requirements, however, the major risks associated with sustainability are reputational, which could result in the loss of customers due to damage to the brand. Therefore, to be involved since the beginning in sustainability actions for in-house lawyers is crucial in order to avoid any negative implications that may be associated. 

Do you use any ‘legal tech’ products, and if so, for which areas of your work do you find them most useful? (For example, billing, contract drafting, electronic discovery, case management, etc.) 

We use legal tech for billing and as a repository of contracts.
