How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crises, and how does your legal strategy align with the broader business strategy to ensure the organisation’s resilience?

During periods of instability or crisis, I seek to manage the legal aspects of the company by quickly assessing risks, which are clearly communicated to senior management along with different action plan alternatives and the possible outcomes of the eventual execution of each for informed decision making. I collaborate closely with other departments to modify processes and adapt our strategies in the legal department according to changing needs. To align the legal strategy with the business one, I make sure to thoroughly understand the business objectives and strategic planning of the company, in order to follow its new goals and interests, make the necessary legal adjustments in each business unit according to the projected development with the corresponding budget allocated, thus ensuring the long-term resilience of our organisation.

What are the main cases or transactions that you have been involved in recently?

I recently led the legal and contractual aspects for the opening of Scanntech in Mexico. I am also in charge of regulatory matters with the Uruguayan State and compliance with reporting requirements in our capacity as regulated entity by the Central Bank of Uruguay.

What role does the legal department play in promoting and ensuring corporate social responsibility in your organisation?

The legal department is fully committed to the corporate social responsibility vision and mission that the company has established for this new stage of growth and development. To this end, the company has developed a procedure of checks and balances in the contracting of suppliers so that contractual relations are entered into by suppliers who are conscious of corporate social responsibility and care and respect for the environment, even if economically they do not represent the best option. To this end, each supplier undergoes an initial due diligence to analyse its commitment to respect human rights, social commitment, compliance with personal data protection and environmental protection.
