Green Guide Profile: WALLESS
Multi-service Lithuanian firm WALLESS assists clients with a range of matters relating to a green transition, including clean and renewable energy, environmental protection, e-mobility and sustainable finance.
The firm’s dispute resolution team is currently representing the Environment Protection Department against AB Grigeo Klaipėda, a major paper and wood company in Lithuania, in connection with a €48m claim brought against the company due to the polluting of the Curronian Spit, an area of the country that has been protected by UNESCO for several years.
In the sustainable finance space, a recent highlight was the representation of Swedbank in one of the first sustainability-linked bonds to take place in the Baltic region, which will be used to finance strategic energy projects.
The firm is also assisting Kaunas Regional Waste Management Centre, established with the aim of creating a sustainable waste management system in the Kaunas region, with various legal issues concerning waste management.
For client Milieu Consulting SRL, key individual Vaidotas Puklevičius and others handled the Lithuanian aspect of its study on the promotion of e-mobility through building policy in EEA countries and the UK; the client was awarded the preparation of the study on behalf of the European Commission.
Puklevičius was also a key advisor to the Ministry of Energy regarding the transposition of the Clean Energy Package into Lithuanian law. He regularly speaks at conferences on topics such as citizen energy communities and renewable energy communities, and making small green energy projects big.
The firm is a member of the Lithuanian Wind Power Association, the Lithuanian Solar Association, and the hydrogen platform, an institution established by the Ministry of Energy which aims to improve the country’s hydrogen policy.
