Partner Mohamed Eldib explains how Eldib & Co is evolving to meet the dynamic needs of its clients in Egypt and the region.

What do you see as the main points that differentiate Eldib & Co from your competitors?

Eldib & Co has been a pillar of the legal industry since its founding in 1875, with a reputation built on trust, expertise, and a forward-thinking approach. Unlike many firms, we combine deep-rooted experience with a modern, technology-driven strategy that enhances efficiency and client service. Our Intellectual Property practice is the oldest and strongest in Egypt and North Africa, while our commercial, corporate, and dispute resolution teams offer unparalleled expertise across multiple industries. Additionally, our international reach through offices in Türkiye, China, and North Africa ensures that our clients receive seamless, cross-border legal support tailored to their global ambitions. We are also the only Egyptian law firm with a branch in China and Chinese-speaking legal professionals, allowing us to serve clients engaging with the Chinese market more effectively than any other firm in Egypt.

Furthermore, 2025 marks a historic milestone for Eldib & Co as we celebrate 150 years of legal excellence. This legacy makes us not only the oldest but also the most experienced law firm in Egypt and the region, reinforcing our reputation for reliability, deep-rooted expertise, and commitment to delivering outstanding legal services across generations.

Which practices do you see growing in the next 12 months? What are the drivers behind that?

We anticipate significant growth in data protection and artificial intelligence (AI) regulations, labor laws, and investment law reforms aimed at attracting more foreign direct investment (FDI). As digital transformation accelerates, businesses are increasingly focused on compliance with data privacy laws and the ethical use of AI, creating new legal challenges that require expert guidance. Additionally, evolving labor laws are shaping employer-employee relationships, prompting companies to reassess their HR policies and regulatory compliance strategies. Lastly, Egypt is considering a new investment law designed to streamline business operations, reduce barriers, and enhance the country’s attractiveness to foreign investors, further driving demand for corporate legal services.

What’s the main change you’ve made in the firm that will benefit clients?

We have made several strategic changes that directly enhance the quality of service we provide to our clients. First, we have expanded our team with more specialized attorneys across all departments, ensuring deeper expertise and more tailored legal solutions. Our team is now larger and more experienced, allowing us to handle complex legal matters with greater efficiency. Additionally, we have implemented a new case management system designed to improve organization, streamline workflows, and enhance communication with clients. This system enables us to manage cases more effectively, ensuring timely updates and a more structured approach to legal service delivery. These improvements position us to offer a higher level of efficiency, responsiveness, and expertise to our clients.

Is technology changing the way you interact with your clients, and the services you can provide them?

Absolutely. Technology has transformed our approach to legal service delivery. We have implemented advanced case management systems that allow clients to track the progress of their matters in real time, ensuring transparency and efficiency. We also use AI-driven legal research tools to enhance the accuracy and speed of our case preparation. Additionally, we are developing digital compliance solutions that help clients navigate regulatory landscapes with ease. These advancements allow us to provide more cost-effective and strategic legal solutions, aligning with the evolving needs of businesses in a digital age.

Can you give us a practical example of how you have helped a client to add value to their business?

One of our recent success stories involved advising an international corporation on a high-stakes merger and acquisition transaction in Egypt. The client sought to acquire a significant stake in a local company operating in a highly regulated sector. Our team conducted an extensive due diligence process, identifying legal risks, regulatory hurdles, and strategic opportunities to optimize the transaction structure. We played a crucial role in negotiating terms, ensuring compliance with local and international regulations, and securing the necessary approvals from regulatory authorities. By structuring a deal that protected the client’s interests while maximizing value, we facilitated a seamless acquisition that positioned the company for long-term success in the Egyptian market. This case exemplifies our ability to navigate complex transactions and deliver strategic legal counsel that drives business growth.

Are clients looking for stability and strategic direction from their law firms – where do you see the firm in three years’ time?

Most definitely. In today’s rapidly evolving legal and business landscape, clients seek more than just legal representation—they need attorneys with a commercial mindset, who can provide stability, insight, and foresight. Over the next three years, Eldib & Co aims to further solidify its position as a leading regional law firm by expanding our international reach, enhancing our technological capabilities, and deepening our expertise in key practice areas. We are also focusing on strengthening our partnerships in emerging markets, ensuring that our clients receive comprehensive legal support as they navigate global expansion. Our goal is to continue evolving while maintaining the core values that have defined us for nearly 150 years: excellence, integrity, and client commitment.
