Advising Generadora de Gatun, S.A., as borrower, and affiliates of the AES Corporation, as sponsors, in the senior and mezzanine facilities (US$785,830,000.00 and US$175,000,000.00, respectively) for the development, design, engineer, procurement, construction, commissioning, testing, start-up, operation, and maintenance of the Gatun Power Project, an approximately 670-megawatt combined-cycle natural gas-fired power plant, to be located on Telfers Island, province of Colon, Republic of Panama, which will be the largest power project in Panama.  The transaction won in the “Project Finance: Energy and Natural Resources”category in the Latin Lawyer Deal of the Year Awards 2022.

Advised ARTCAP LAC PRIVATE CREDIT SERVICES S.A., an affiliate of ArtCap Strategies, a Cayman-based investment group specializing in structuring custom solutions for clients in Latin America and the Caribbean (“ArtCap”), as administrative agent and co-arranger (together with Apollo Global Funding LLC); and (ii) Banistmo Investment Corporation S.A., as trustee, in relation to a 10-year US$90,000,000 senior secured loan granted to Banesco (Panamá), S.A., the fourth largest bank in Panama in terms of deposits and part of the Banesco International group (“Banesco”) to finance the growth of Banesco’s consumer loan portfolios and other corporate purposes in general.

Advised IFC, Nederlandse Financierings-Maatschappij Voor Ontwikkelingslanden N.V., Société de Promotion et de Participation pour la Coopération Economique (PROPARCO), Oesterreichische Entwicklungsbank AG (OeEB), Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), Banco Nacional de Panama, Banco General, S.A., in connection with a credit facility for the construction, operation and maintenance of “Penonome II,” a 215 MW power project consisting of four wind farms in the Republic of Panama, the largest wind farm in Central America.

Advising Banistmo S.A., as facilities agent and administrative agent, in a multimillionaire financing agreement for an amount of up to US$2,000,000,000.00 related to Line 3 of the Panama City Metro system, one of the largest public infrastructure projects in Panama. The transaction won the Structured Financing of the Year of the Latin Finance 2021 Deals of the Year Awards.
