Advised Solgold PLC on the issuance of US$36 million shares and US$50 million royalty agreement in order to secure further financing for its Cascabel Mining Project, one of the largest mining concessions in Ecuador.

Acted for Luminex Resources on the structuring of an earn-in agreement with CODELCO, a Chilean state-owned copper mining company, for the Chalapo Mining Project and negotiating with the Ecuadorian state an Investment Protection Agreement for Condor project.

Advising Titan Minerals on reorganizing mining portfolio and guiding successfully on judicial trials to defend company’s interest.

Acted for Solgold PLC in the negotiation and signing of a landmark Investment Protection Contract for mining exploration with the Ecuadorian state.

Advised Bactech on several land acquisitions and on negotiations with authorities concerning their new biotechnology plant.

Advised Lumina Gold Corp in the negotiation and signing of a landmark Investment Protection Contract for mining exploration with the Ecuadorian state.

Our natural resources, energy and infrastructure unit is recognized as a leader in mining practice in Ecuador. Clients’ portfolios represent more than half of the mining concessions granted in Ecuador since 2016. Moreover, at least four of these have been categorized as second-generation projects due to their importance within the mining sector.

The team has multidisciplinary expertise in mining, energy, environment and sustainability, advising on complex legal issues and sustainable practices including concession acquisition, permitting, environmental compliance and licensing, land acquisition, consultation, aboriginal rights, negotiation of investment protection agreements and general regulatory matters.
