The Ashurst capital markets team boasts both a global and national reach, working from Brisbane, Perth, Melbourne and Sydney and collaborating with colleagues throughout the firm, including in the US. In Sydney, Bruce Macdonald leads the equity capital markets team, which acts for both ASX-listed entities and leading financial intermediaries in a range of sectors, including energy and natural resources, financial services and consumer retail (which is an area of expertise for Andrew Kim). The debt capital markets team is led by Caroline Smart, who is also based in Sydney, and covers a range of DCM work, from convertible bonds and green and social sustainability bonds to hybrid instruments and US and Australian dollar private placements. Jennifer Schlosser leads the securitisation offering from Sydney, advising on a range of asset classes including green securitisations; the team is particularly noted for its offshore capability and regulatory expertise. Global chief client officer Jamie Ng leads on the team’s specialist derivates work.
