Dedicated to resolving complex contentious matters in Latin America, boutique practice Jana & Gil Dispute Resolution has ‘solid national and international arbitration knowledge’. The 12-strong group has a significant track record in both ICSID investment disputes and high-stakes commercial arbitrations in the construction, energy and mining sectors. The group is co-led by founding partners Andrés Jana and Rodrigo Gil, whose ‘interactions allow them to find creative ways to find solutions’. Alongside sitting as arbitrators, Jana and Gil both recently acted for the Chilean Government in a $400m ICSID dispute concerning the concession for Santiago’s international airport. The department further includes Francisco Grob, whose career includes seven years working at ICSID’s World Bank Group in Washington DC, and shareholder-disputes expert Karen Werner. Promoted to partner in January 2024 and included in the list of CAM Santiago’s Young Arbitrators in 2023, Victoria Demarchi acts in both domestic and international disputes; and -in the firm’s senior associate team- Cristóbal Vergara routinely acts on ICC and CAM Santiago cases, as well as national and international ad hoc arbitration tribunals. However, former partner Carla Dittus, and senior associates Alfonso Marcos, Juan Pablo Labbé, Benjamín Silva and Emanuel Gutierrez departed the firm over the course of the year from May 2023 to April 2024. Since research concluded, Werner has also left the firm - effective as of August 2024.
