Garrigues Chile houses ‘a very cohesive team that is capable of covering highly complex litigation’. The six-member dispute resolution group based in Santiago covers a range of contentious matters, with recent experience including corporate, commercial, construction and real estate disputes, as well as consumer protection class actions, insurance claims, antitrust, and tax and administrative conflicts. The practice also assists with large-value succession cases. Following the August 2024 departure of former practice head Monica Van Der Schraft to focus on sitting as an arbitrator, the firm has hired former Jana & Gil Dispute Resolution partner Karen Werner, who has a niche specialism in partnership conflicts as part of her broader contentious practice (which involves both arbitration and litigation), to lead the office’s disputes group. The team further comprises principal associate José Joaquín Verdugo, who has extensive experience in high-stakes litigation and arbitrations. Cristóbal Sarralde is no longer at the firm.
