Fielding ‘a competent team that is always available to resolve issues’, PMV Abogados’ 11-strong department acts for both domestic and international companies on ongoing labour and employment issues, as well as on the global mobility aspects of management and employees. It also assists with trade union matters and lawsuits involving fundamental labour rights. The group additionally recently advised on new Chilean legislation, such as the April 2024 40-Hour Law; and the August 2024 Karin Law, which establishes (as an obligation for companies) protocols for the prevention of workplace and sexual harassment and violence. In recent highlights, the team acted for Sweden-headquartered global appliance company Electrolux de Chile on collective bargaining involving two unions, the collective agreement reached averting shutdown of its production plant and huge losses. The practice is co-led by labour law specialist Sebastián Parga, who ‘particularly stands out’; Jorge Montes, whose experience covers labour lawsuits, individual and collective matters, collective bargaining, strategic labour advice for upper management, employees’ global mobility, and immigration matters; and complex litigation expert Pablo Vasseur, a 2023-appointed labour arbitrator for Labour Directorate collective bargaining cases involving strategic companies, where the right to strike cannot be exercised. Former partner Alexandra de Grenade departed the firm in September 2023.
