Work highlights

  • Assisting British American Tobacco in a case against the Danish Ministry of Health concerning a Danish law introducing several new measures against e-cigarettes, tobacco heating products and nicotine pouches, including plain packaging, characterising flavour ban, retail display ban and advertising ban.
  • Successfully represented Sonion in multiple ongoing preliminary injunction proceedings against, among others, Huawei and Sony for infringement of Sonion's patent and utility models protecting an inventive voice pick up bone conductor to be used in noise cancellation systems in ear pods.
  • Represents Novo Nordisk A/S, Leo Pharma and H. Lundbeck in a case regarding the implications of the Falsified Medicines Directive on parallel import, which deals with the question of whether parallel importers are entitled to repack parallel imported products into new packages or if they are obliged to relabel the products. This question was brought before the CJEU (Court of Justice of European Union), which agreed with the standpoint of H. Lundbeck, Novo Nordisk and Leo Pharma and the ruling will have considerable precedential value in similar cases across Europe.

Peter-Ulrik Plesner focuses on IP law, including patents, trademarks, counterfeited products, Life Science and litigation. Peter-Ulrik is an absolute leader in his field and is ranked a "star individual" by the recognised international rating publication, Chambers. In particular, he represents a large number of national and international clients in patent disputes as well as trademark and marketing cases. He has extensive litigation and arbitration experience. Peter-Ulrik has a right to appear before the Danish Supreme Court and frequently conducts cases there as well as before the Danish High Court and the Danish Maritime and Commercial High Court. Finally, Peter-Ulrik serves as an arbitrator and he has completed the General Council of the Danish Bar and Law Society’s training programme for arbitrators.

Kasper Frahm is head of Plesner's Trademark Law and Design team. Kasper is one of the leading IP law specialists in Denmark. His primary practice areas are trademarks, copyrights, product imitations and patents. Kasper provides advice to and litigates court cases for large Danish and foreign clients, including by means of preliminary injunctions and preservation of evidence. He also has extensive experience in trademark and design portfolio work. Kasper is author of the book "Product Imitation Case Law" and has written several IP law articles. He lectures on IP rights both in Denmark and abroad and holds an LL.M. in IP law from King’s College London. Kasper is a member of the European Trademark Law and Practice Team at MARQUES. On several occasions, he has been recognized by relevant rating publications as the leading attorney within his field of expertise in Denmark.

Sture Rygaard's primary practice area is patent law. He is a very experienced litigator and represents a number of pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device clients as well as clients in the construction industry, tech/software and agricultural sector. Sture became President of the European Patent Lawyer's Association (EPLAW) in 2022. He has been a member of the EPLAW board since 2017. Sture is a regular speaker at conferences and seminars, for instance: The first EPLAW Webinar on the Unified Patent Court (UPC) - February 2022; C5’s Pharma & Biotech Patent Litigation in Europe Conference in Amsterdam (update on SPC practice and UPC aspects) - May 2022; Co-organizer of a conference on the UPC together with the Danish Employer's Confederation - June 2022; EPLAW Congress 2022 in Brussels (on lis pendens in the UPC) - December 2022 He is co-author of a comprehensive book on the Unified Patent Court (UPC) and a number of other IP publications. Sture also represents clients in other IP matters, including IP contracts, transactions, strategy and trademark litigation. Sture was Chairman of the AIPPI Standing Committee on Trade Secrets from 2017 to 2022.
