CMS follows a cross-locational approach and advises wealthy private individuals and medium-sized family businesses on cross-border matters; this includes inheritance and succession planning as well as place of residence matters. The team also assists family offices with the structuring of private funds; here, clients benefit from the close cooperation with the private equity team. Co-head Dirk Schauer advises entrepreneurs on the structuring of their companies, including the establishment of corporate and non-profit foundations; he jointly leads the team with asset protection expert Christian Blum. Counsel Jasper Philippi is another key contact for inheritance and foundation law; he supports clients in inheritance structuring and in disputes.
