Hengeler Mueller's state aid practice advises on major EU subsidy programs for innovative and security-relevant technologies, in particular in connection with the EU Chips Act and Important Projects of Common European Interest (IPCEIs). It also focuses on assisting large companies that received support from the German government's Economic Stabilisation Fund in connection with the Covid-19 pandemic or the war in Ukraine. Practice head Jan Bonhage advises both companies and the public sector in procurement, review, EU financial control and state aid proceedings and regularly represents them before the courts of the European Union and in proceedings before the European Commission.
