The structured finance and privatisation practice at POTAMITISVEKRIS is routinely instructed by the Greek government, financial institutions, and international energy companies. The team has vast experience in advising lenders on the financing of major renewable energy projects, alongside dealing with project finance and general operation aspects of global infrastructure initiatives. Based out of Athens, Euripides Ioannou heads the group, leveraging his expertise of representing prominent players in the real estate and energy sectors, whilst George Bersis regularly acts on IPOs and share capital increases. Alexander Metallinos focuses on corporate law and arbitrations, Anthea Terlegas is an expert on the project financing side, and Dimitra Rachouti is another key contact in the group.

Work highlights

Advised the a syndicate of lenders in relation to a successful 500 million euro financing of Terna Energy’s Kafireas project, a 330MW cluster of wind farm projects located on the island of Evia.
Advised the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund (HRADF) on the 733 million euro privatization of the infrastructure section of the Hellenic Public Gas Corporation (DEPA) and in particular on the completion of the sale of a 100% shareholding in “DEPA Infrastructure SA” to Italgas SpA..
Advised the lenders in relation to a successful 216 million euro financing of Kalamata Methoni motorway, a major motorway infrastructure project and the first to be implemented under a Public Private Partnership with availability payments.
