Specialist IP firm Ideas Trademarks & Patents continued its expansion across Central America and the Caribbean with the launch of its Guatemala office, co-led by former CENTRAL LAW partner Gustavo Noyola. The firm has quickly built a robust practice in the country through the hires of associate Maria José Castellanos (also from CENTRAL LAW) and with a January 2023 association with Lexincorp which sees both practice co-head Gonzalo Menéndez González and experienced associate Ovidio Parra acting as members of both firms regarding IP matters. The team has considerable strength in the anti-counterfeiting field, representing a number of household-name international brands, and also advises on trademark prosecutions and oppositions, regional strategies for the management of clients’ IP portfolios, and related data protection issues.
