ABNR Counsellors at Law’s clientele includes parties of all kinds in need of legal advice and representation in maritime and shipping matters, from ship owners, operators and charterers to marine insurers and reinsurers, lending banks and other financial institutions. The firm is specialised in cabotage, ship financing, ship registration and insurance as well as natural resource transportation in addition to representing clients in disputes over wet and dry shipping law. At the head of the practice group is Emir Nurmansyah, who has led in many of Indonesia’s recent major power projects. Work highlights

  • Represented PT Temas Tbk and Capt. La Ode Alifatha as defendants in a tort claim brought by PT Asuransi FPG Indonesia before the Appeal Court and Supreme Court by way of subrogation from PT Riau Andalan Pulp and Paper, whose jetty and equipment were allegedly damaged by a vessel owned by Temas and commanded by Capt. La Ode.
  • Represented Italy-based shipping company, Mediterranea di Navigazione, against a petition for a final judicial review filed by Indonesian state-owned shipbuilder PT PAL over an order for the execution of a multimillion-dollar arbitration award against it.
  • Advising marine insurer Groupement D’Assurances de Risques Exceptionnels on a dispute with a shipowner over an insurance claim arising out of the detention of the “MV Win Win” in Batam by the Indonesian Navy.
