Covington & Burling LLP's Latin America corporate practice group is led by deeply experienced practitioner, Gabriel Mesa, with dual-qualified (Brazil/New York) special counsel Gustavo Akkerman heading the Brazil team. Much of the practice centres on venture capital and private equity investments, and strategic acquisitions. The departmenthas been active on a solid flow of technology deals and a number of corporate restructurings; recent mandates include advisng Amazon Web Services on transactions in a number of Latin American countries. The group is also increasingly active advising Brazilian businesses on funding arrangements and commercial agreements with partners elsewhere in Latin America and in the US. At associate level, Laura Bleier provides key support across corporate matters, M&A and project finance.
