Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP has been building its Latin America expertise in recent years, with a notable emphasis on private equity investments, strategic M&A deals and transactions linked to energy and infrastructure assets. Insurance is another key sector for the firm. It now has a strong emphasis on Brazil through native Brazilian and New York-based partner Anna Martini Pereira, although she is also active in deals across the region, including transactions in the financial institutions, technology and consumer goods sectors. Washington DC, New York and Houston-based Jorge Kamine provides further senior expertise in energy and infrastructure transactions. Former Latin America department head Maria-Leticia Ossa Daza left the firm in May 2024. Since the conclusion of research, the firm has hired a group of 11 capital markets and M&A specialists from Mayer Brown (effective as of August 2024), including five partners and six associates, to the firm's Chicago office; among them capital markets expert Jennifer Carlson has considerable experience of Latin America.
