While it has limited traction among conventional banking clients, Akin continues to grow its private credit-focused new money and special situations expertise, an area that was further enhanced by the arrival in January 2023 of Fergus Wheeler  from White & Case LLP. Other niche areas areas of focus include team head Tom O’Connor's representation to institutional investors on privately placed debt and equity securities, and on cross-border financing transactions.
