The ‘collaborative and proactive' planning team at Addleshaw Goddard continues to participate in significant housing and regeneration schemes in London and across the country, drawing on the firm’s regional strengths. The group frequently handles high-profile Transport and Works Act and DCO promotions. Marnix Elsenaar is the head of the firm’s national planning and infrastructure consenting team, in addition to the group’s transport practice. The transport sector is a key focus area for the team; Francis Tyrrell joined the firm in February 2023 from Pinsent Masons LLP in order to bolster the transport practice, bringing a full spectrum of expertise that spans ports, airports, rails, canals, and roads. Managing associate Sarah Hodge leads for some of the firm’s key transport clients. Led by Gary Sector, the group’s energy practice also continued to bolster its London presence in 2022 through the hiring of Michael Dempsey in June from Herbert Smith Freehills LLP, as well as through significant projects in growing fields such as carbon capture and renewable energy.
