Milagros Caballero
Milagros Caballero is a senior associate and works in the Labor Law Department of the firm. Ms. Caballero concentrates her practice assisting multinational companies and corporations from several industries with the process of establishing its regional headquarters in Panama. She is also involved in the pro bono activities of the firm regularly assisting to Legal Open Houses organized by the firm. Furthermore, Ms. Caballero is a Labor Law professor in the Superior Tagua Institute, a non-profit that promotes educational projects for low-income Panamanian women. Ms. Caballero completed her LL.B. at the University of Panama, as well as her Master’s Degree, which emphasizes in Procedural Law. She also has a certificate, issued by the Ministry of Government and Justice, on Mediation. Ms. Caballero is a member of the Panamanian Academy of Labor Law and the American Association of Labor Law. Ricardo Aleman
Ricardo Aleman is a Partner at Morgan & Morgan and focuses his practice in Labor Law. Throughout his 40 years of experience in the legal field, Mr. Aleman has advised local and international corporations on labor and employment matters, including corporate restructurings, collective bargaining negotiations, employment contracts, termination agreements and labor litigation. In the public sector, Mr. Aleman has been appointed as Ambassador of the Republic of Panama to Mexico (2004-2009), Secretary of the Conciliation and Arbitration Commission of the Chamber of Commerce (2002-2004), Member of the Tripartite Commission responsible for the revision of the Panamanian Labor Code (1978), Deputy Judge of the Superior Labor Court (1986), Deputy Judge of the Supreme Court of Justice (1999) and General Manager of the Colon Free Zone (1998-1999). He has also presided the Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture of Panama and the Federation of Chambers of Commerce of Central America (1991-1992); and during that same period served as Vice-President of the National Council of Private Enterprises. Mr. Aleman holds an LL. B. from the Universidad de Panama, and is admitted to practice law in the Republic of Panama. Prior to joining Morgan & Morgan, Mr. Aleman was a Partner at a consulting regional firm specializing in corporate labor counsel and related affairs.
Maria Teresa Mendoza
Maria Teresa Mendoza is a Partner at Morgan & Morgan and co-heads the Labor Law practice group of the firm. Prior to joining Morgan & Morgan, Mrs. Mendoza was a Partner at a consulting regional firm specializing in corporate labor counsel and related affairs. Over the last 20 years, Mrs. Mendoza’s practice specializes in advising clients local and multinational corporations on all labor and employment matters, including drafting and reviewing employment contracts, employee handbooks, corporate restructurings, termination agreements, social security, labor due diligence, among others. Her client portfolio includes clients from several sectors such as energy, insurance, banking, automotive, real estate, construction, education, logistics, media and communications, mining, engineering and manufacturing, agribusiness, hospitality, headhunting, among others. She is a member of the Employment Law Alliance (ELA) and regularly participates as speaker at seminars and conferences related to labor law and regulations. Mrs. Mendoza is also member of the Panamanian National Minimum Wage Commission, on behalf of the National Private Business Council (CONEP). Latin Lawyer have recognized Mrs. Mendoza as a leading labor lawyer in Panama. Mrs. Mendoza holds a LL.B., Political Sciences, from Universidad Santa Maria La Antigua in Panama; and obtained a Specialization in Labor Law and Business Law from Universidad Santa Maria La Antigua and Universidad de Los Andes in Bogota, Colombia, respectively.
