Allen & Gledhill LLP has substantially grown its dispute resolution practice over the last decade. The firm’s geographic growth across Southeast Asia and into China has led to a substantial increase in cross-border dispute engagements, including those before the Singapore International Commercial Court (SICC). The firm traditionally acted for large Singapore corporates and financial institutions, and now has a much larger multinational client base. It remains especially active in restructuring and insolvency-related litigation, including cases linked to the Hin Leong scandal, along with white-collar crime, arbitration-related litigation and disputes connected to private wealth. It has two senior counsels in Stanley Lai SC, the head of intellectual property, and Jason Chan SC, who leads the white-collar crime team. Andrew Yeo and William Ong co-head the litigation and dispute resolution group, which includes Dinesh Dhillon, Vincent Leow, Tan Kai Liang and Tay Yong Seng.

  • ‘Tan Xeauwei has consistently proven herself to be a top-notch litigator, with a stunning intellect and excellent client servicing. Xeauwei has always provided great solutions for many of the legal issues that we have faced. Definitely surpasses other litigators that we have worked with by a wide margin. ’

  • ‘Peh Aik Hin is analytical, sharp, and able to dish out practical and succinct advice to address clients' needs.’

  • ‘The team was highly organised, hard-working, and technically and legally competent. They managed the client in a diplomatic but firm manner so that the client did not put too much pressure on their expert, and A&G understood the need to preserve the independence of their expert. The A&G team was also diverse by gender and race, which is rare in my experience. ’

  • ‘I was very impressed with Dinesh Dhillon, who was leading the team and the case, and got the best of out of his team and the expert's team. During the trial where he was the advocate, Dinesh Dhillon was particularly impressive because he maintained a reasonable and courteous tone and approach throughout, which was highly persuasive and in stark contrast to the opposing SC.’

  • ‘Stanley Lai SC's advocacy skills, his tenacity and ability to persuade counsel of third parties to support our position sets him apart from many of his competitors.’

  • ‘The litigation team is very experienced in banking litigation. They are very familiar with the relevant issues and documentation. They are able to provide sound and practical advice.’

  • ‘I work with William Ong. He has acted for banks in many litigious matters which comes through in the advice and support he provides. Not only is he familiar with the issues and the legal position on those issues, he is also practical, taking into account commercial considerations. William is also very helpful and always accessible. ’
