JTJB Taipei’s shipping team is led by Daryl Lai and handles a wide range of wet and dry shipping matters, from charterparty disputes to marine casualty investigations. The team regularly acts for major clients, namely Britannia P&I Club and Fubon Insurance, and has recently represented the former in relation to a charterparty claim subrogated to a local marine insurer. Lai has considerable experience advising shipowners, marine insurers, and P&I clubs in connection with maritime disputes and arrests. He has previously acted in relation to a high-profile case concerning marine oil pollution, arbitrated in London for local shipping clients, and advised local hull underwriters on a marine casualty incident on the Suez Canal.
