2023 saw DLA Piper LLP (US) grow its team for renewable energy, with five partner hires, though the year did also awthe departure of previous practice head Vanessa Richelle Wilson. Joe Stefano joined the New York office from Allen & Overy LLP, along with Robert da Silva Ashley from McDermott Will & Emery LLP in April 2023; da Silva Ashley acts on complex cross-border and domestic project finance and corporate lending transactions, while Stefano brings extensive experience in structuring and restructuring the full range of secured and unsecured corporate financings. Another new addition was Lindsay MacLeod, who joined the Seattle office from an in-house role and acts for corporate purchasers and developers on negotiating renewable energy transactions. Of the already established team, San Diego-based Raul Farias, an energy sector expert whose practice has an emphasis on M&A, project development and finance, stands out.

- Advising SGP BioEnergy on all matters in the development, financing, construction and operation of a biorefinery, located in Panama.
- Represented Invenergy in the $429.2m project financing provided by a syndicate of lenders led by KeyBank National Association for the development, construction and operation of the 259.8MW Sapphire Sky wind project in Illinois.
- Acted for Wilmington Trust in its capacity as registrar and paying agent, in a note purchase agreement between Apollo and Doral Renewables Intermediate, relating to a photovoltaic solar electricity generating facility in Indiana.
