Julian is a freelance researcher who has written for The Legal 500 series since 2005, covering US M&A/M&A litigation and construction, Italy, Poland, India, Venezuela, Uruguay, Chile, Ghana, Libya, Nigeria, Syria, China, Offshore Caribbean/Britain, Australia, and several London chapters including financial services, construction, commercial litigation, banking litigation, international arbitration, public international law, shipping, social housing, property litigation and planning, in addition to London Bar sections. Especially interested in international legal markets, Julian has written special features on Italy, Switzerland, Russia/CIS Global Offshore, Benelux, CEE, Austria, Malta, Spain, India and Portugal for The Legal 500’s sister publication, Legal Business. He has also written features for the IBA’s Global Insight magazine and CDR magazine, in addition to articles on cinema, food and art for a culture magazine. Julian graduated in History from the School of Slavonic & East European Studies, University of London; gained law qualifications from London Guildhall University; and practised as a solicitor for central London law firms for ten years. Dividing his time between London and Italy, Julian is a keen traveller and has visited several countries for The Legal 500; he also loves film, books and food!
