Bertie studied English Literature and Philosophy at the University of York, before taking the GDL and the LPC at BPP, and completing a training contract at Herbert Smith Freehills. After qualifying as a solicitor in 2022, Bertie left HSF to travel in Latin America and to volunteer for a humanitarian organisation in Serbia. Prior to joining the Legal 500, Bertie worked on the legal teams of two human rights NGOs, submitting third party interventions to the European Court of Human Rights on behalf of refugees. In his spare time, Bertie likes climbing, camping, and generally anything outdoorsy.
