Position
Vanessa is of counsel of Maples and Calder’s Banking and Finance team in the Maples Group’s Dublin office. Vanessa has extensive experience advising a broad spectrum of lenders (Irish and International financial institutions, alternative lenders) and borrowers (trading companies, SPVs, funds, partnerships) on a range of domestic and cross-border finance transactions including real estate investment and development finance, funds finance (including subscription line financing), corporate debt, leveraged and acquisition finance, refinancings and restructurings.
Career
Vanessa joined the Maples Group in 2016. Prior to this, she spent six years working off-shore, most recently in Guernsey at Bedell Cristin, and in the British Virgin Islands.

The group has been kept busy advising on refinancings and amendments relating to real estate, acquisition and fund finance, and has seen an uptick in instructions involving debt funds, loan portfolio sales and receivables finance. The practice is led by the triumvirate of Elizabeth Bradley, Sarah Francis and Alma O’Sullivan. Vanessa Lawlor made partner in January 2023.
