Position

George Eyre specialises in commercial litigation and arbitration. He is frequently instructed in high value and complex commercial disputes including insurance, civil fraud, sports and professional negligence matters.

George also has significant experience in construction, energy and infrastructure claims and is recommended by the Legal 500 as a “rising star” at the construction bar. His recent instructions include cases where fraud is alleged in the context of commercial and residential developments, insurance disputes concerning international energy production programmes, and professional negligence claims arising from construction and infrastructure projects.

Since 2018, alongside his regular practice, George has been acting as Junior Counsel to the Grenfell Tower Inquiry. George was appointed to the Attorney General’s C Panel of London counsel in 2022 and represents the UK Government in commercial disputes.

Before joining Gatehouse Chambers, George graduated from the University of Oxford with a First-Class degree in History and then completed the GDL and BPTC at the City Law School, during which time he was awarded a number of scholarships and academic prizes.

George is a member of the Commercial Bar Association, the Young Fraud Lawyers Association, the Young International Arbitration Group. the Technology and Construction Bar Association, and the Society of Construction Law.

George regularly contributes to Gatehouse Chambers’ programme of seminars and articles on key and emerging issues in his practice areas.

Nigel Jones KC is an expert in insurance litigation, having been involved in large insurance disputes in the market, including Enterprise Insurance Co, a cross-border case in Gibraltar where Jones, alongside Sarah McCann were instructed to advise on the conduct of Enterprise’s UK motor claims book requiring detailed advice on insurance law, alongside being instructed by the Gibraltar liquidator both directly and through a Gibraltarian firm to advise on multiple company matters concerning the insolvency and ongoing litigation in multiple international jurisdictions.
