Position

Anouk is partner within Faros, where she is head of the privacy and data protection practice. Anouk assists both international and national companies in such matters as investigations conducted by the Belgian Data Protection Authority, GDPR compliance audits, the assessment and notification of data breaches, and the set-up of complex data-driven collaborations of strategic commercial importance. In addition, she has detailed knowledge of, and extensive experience in the application of the ePrivacy legislation, in particular as it applies to the motor vehicle industry. Anouk also contributes her expertise to the Faros competition law team, specifically focusing on cases that involve the intersection of competition and data protection.

Anouk is the Data Protection Officer for the Flemish Bar Association.

She is furthermore Teaching assistant at the Catholic University of Leuven (‘KUL’), where she teaches the course ‘GDPR in practice’, affiliated researcher at the multidisciplinary Research Group on Law, Science, Technology & Society (‘LSTS’) of the Free University of Brussels (‘VUB’), and member of the editorial board of two leading legal journals (Tijdschrift Computerrecht and Tijdschrift RABG) together with other eminent legal practitioners.

As of 2020, Anouk also teaches a course on data protection at the Flemish Bar Association’s institute for lawyers-trainees in preparation of their bar exam.

Anouk has edited and co-authored a 300 page monograph, containing a practical analysis of the GDPR and the application thereof in practice. In addition, Anouk is the author of various articles on privacy and data protection.
