Position

Geoffrey Chan is a partner of Mayer Brown. He has extensive experience in all aspects of contentious construction work in terms of legal proceedings, arbitration and alternative dispute resolution in Hong Kong, China and Macau. He advises on town-planning and building law and is highly experienced in advising on numerous construction contract claims, construction negligence claims and claims involving environmental issues. He also advises clients on labour importation issues by the Legco Select Committee. Geoffrey is ranked in Chambers Asia Pacific (2015-2018) and is named a Leading Individual by The Legal 500 Asia Pacific (2017 and 2018). He is also named a 'Construction Expert' in Expert Guides (2016) and in 2007, Geoffrey was the recipient of the Caernarfon Award from the Institute of Quarrying in New Zealand. He has been described as "valued for his ability to 'understand complicated facts and grasp the gist of the matter quickly.'" (Chambers Asia Pacific 2017), and is "highly skilled in contentious matters, particularly construction-related cases" (The Legal 500 Asia Pacific 2003/04).
